        Benefits Of Pilates

        The Pilates method is a lifestyle encompassing the development of a healthy, well-developed body under the guidance of the mind. The mat work, the basis for the system, can be performed anywhere and integrates the whole body. The series of the apparatus exercises gives substantial assistance to the creation of long, lean, strong muscles by providing them the right amount of resistance through the use of springs. There are no large numbers of repetitions that fatigue and overdevelop the muscles.

        The exercises are low impact and can be practiced by anyone at any age. The breathing, core control, balance, and spine flexibility are beneficial to seniors, elite athletes, dancers, sports participants, pre and postpartum women and children.

        From the moment I attended the orientation class, I felt welcomed and comfortable at this studio.         I can’t say enough good about Symmetry Pilates. A comfortable, friendly environment, well trained staff holding certifications (important for Pilates teachers). Pilates can be a tough or gentle as you need, Judi and her staff are very sensitive to each student — never more than five per class. My MD recommended Pilates to help with severe arthritis, and it has been nothing short of miraculous. Seriously, highly recommend Symmetry for health and fitness.

        Judi

        Judi is the founder/owner of Symmetry Pilates. She is a polestar, pink ribbon and Pilates Method Alliance certified instructor, as well as a RD with a masters in Nutrition.

        Judi worked for 25+ years in the healthcare and fitness industries before she opened Symmetry in 2007.

        Judi is currently working through a master mentor training with Lolita San Miguel. Lolita trained with Joseph Pilates himself, so this will make Judi a second generation master instructor!

        Abbey

        Abbey

        Abbey recently joined Symmetry in 2018 and we are so happy she did!

        Abbey has been instructing reformer Pilates for over 9 years. She has a strong background in Physical Therapy and a strong passion for dance. Abbey is also certified and trained in Barre, as well as Thai Massage.

        She is currently available for massage, group classes and private Pilates sessions.

        Jill

        Jill has been instructing Pilates for just over 5 years.

        Before making the switch to Pilates, Jill worked in the healthcare field where she holds degrees in both surgical technology and public health. She has a passion for helping others and loves teaching Pilates.

        Jill is currently available for classes and private sessions.

Golfers, for instance, will benefit from improved swing mechanics, core strength, and flexibility.

        However, our Pilates program is not limited to just golfers. Any athlete requiring increased strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination will find our Pilates sessions highly beneficial. Whether you are a runner, tennis player, swimmer, or participate in any other sport, our Pilates training can help you enhance your overall athletic performance, prevent injuries, and maintain peak physical condition.

        New Clients

        New clients to comprehensive Pilates must attend one orientation class. These orientation sessions are designed to be both informational and functional, providing a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental principles of Pilates. During the orientation, you will learn the essential techniques, terminology, and philosophy behind Pilates. This foundational knowledge ensures that you understand the basics, allowing you to get the most out of your Pilates practice and progress safely and effectively in future classes.

        Our orientation classes are structured to help you become familiar with the Pilates equipment, proper body alignment, and breathing techniques, which are crucial for maximizing the benefits of each session. You will also receive personalized attention from our skilled instructors, who will assess your current fitness level and address any specific concerns or goals you may have.

        To expedite your initial visit and ensure a smooth start to your Pilates journey, please complete the client information form in advance. This form provides us with important details about your health, fitness history, and any specific needs or limitations you may have, allowing us to tailor your orientation and subsequent sessions to best suit your individual requirements.
